Research areas and activities

Author of over 80 technical articles (papers, book chapters, conference proceedings) and 17 US patents. Over 30 years research experience in isocyanate-based polymers and polyurethanes. Her research experience includes development of novel materials for medical, space, automotive, transportation and other industries. Specific interests include kinetics and mechanisms of isocyanate reactions; syntheses of polymers and co-polymers of defined chemical structure and properties; morphology and structure property relationships in polymers; polyurethane elastomers and foams; heat resistant polymers; environmental studies.
Organizer of two Polyurethane Elastomer Workshops sponsored by the University of Detroit Mercy (1999 & 2000). Adjunct Professor at the University of Detroit Mercy (2000).


Honors and Awards

Best Paper Award - CPI Polyurethanes Technical Conference 2019, October 7-9, 2019. Results of a joint research project with DuPont Tate & Lyle Bio Products Co., LLC presented by Sean Gahan, entitled “Evaluation of 1,3-Propoanediol Based Polyester and Polyether Polyols in Polyurethane Water Dispersions (PUDs) for Textile Coating Applications,” was awarded best paper award in “CASE: Coatings” Technical Session.

Best Paper Award - CPI Polyurethanes Technical Conference 2018, October 1-3, 2018. Results of a joint research project with DuPont Industrial BioScience, presented by Christian Lenges, entitled “NUVOLVE Engineered Polysaccharides as Sustainable Isocyanate-Reactive Components in Viscoelastic Polyurethane Foams,” was awarded best paper award in “Flexible Foams” Technical Session.

Best Poster Award - CPI Polyurethanes Technical Conference 2018, October 1-3, 2018. Results of a joint research project with Kuraray Co., Ltd. presented by Kunio Mayahara, entitled “Microcellular Elastomers Based on Kuraray MPD Adipate Polyester Polyols,” was awarded best poster award in “Elastomers” Poster Session.
